The Country House Projects

This is where I will be posting pics & comments about all the projects around the house.  Some projects have already been completed, but many are a work in progress.

Oct.19, 2011 -

Finished siding the first, and biggest side of the house today...

Here is the before pic...

And this is what it looks like as of today...

Still lots of work to do and the days are getting shorter.  Not to mention that it's now the rainy season, soon to be the snowy season...so every hour I can spend on this helps.

Nov.1, 2011...
This was our first Haloween in the country...we took the kids trick or treating and carved our first pumpkin at the country house...

I found a really cool looking wart covered pumpkin from a local farmer and thought it would add dramatic effect.  The kids had a great time and we didn't have to throw out any suspicious candy at all...everything looked good.

Nov.15, 2011...

Here is a pictorial of the addition we put in as a 3rd bedroom (family room as far as the city is concerned)

This is the site of the extension as it was when we bought the place...

Then there was lots of hand digging to get a level-ish area
Skip forward to the concrete posts in place and the deck frame in
Next was the flooring
Raising the walls was a family affair

The walls are up in place...ready for prefab rafters.  I had to build the joining part myself!

Rafters in place and ready for sheathig...I hate geometry!
It took two days to shingle the roof...on day 2, here is what we woke up to...
Let's take a closer look at that...remember it's October 30th!

This is how every shhet of OSB and every pack of shingles got up on the roof...

If you asked me to do this 5 years ago, I'd have said you were nuts!

Now that the walls & roof are on, it's time to break through!  Yes, that's the same window...reduce, reuse, recycle!
Now for the electrical...
